SUNDAY 24th AUGUST 2008 21.00 Performance of the modern theatrical work ‘The Miser’ directed by Georgios Messala. Organization: the Prefecture of Piraeus with the support of the Municipality of Spetses.
SATURDAY 30th AUGUST 2008 21.00 Concert with the group GOIN’ THROUGH, plus FAMILY THE LABEL headed by Nikos Vourliotis.
SATURDAY 6th SEPTEMBER 2008 The decoration of all public buildings, shops, houses and boats with national and local flags. 20.30 Traditional Greek dancing by the following, a) The Folkloric and Cultural Association “ Myrinis Karditsas” b) The Cultural Association “Locals of the Highlands of Serres” and c) Erevna (Search), the dance troupe of the Folklore Museum of the Municipality of Salamina.
SUNDAY 7th September 2008 18.30 High Vespers at the church of the Panagia Armata, led by his Most Reverend the Archbishop Efraim. 19.00 Assembly of the dignitaries at the Monument at the Panagia Armata.
MONDAY 8th SEPTEMBER 2008 07.00 Celebratory cannon fire 07.30 Divine Mass at the church of the Panagia Armata 08.00 Raising of the flag at Dapia 09.15 Departure of the dignitaries from the port of Dapia for the church of the Panagia Armata. Blessing at the church followed by a Memorial Service at the Monument of the Panagia Armata. Laying of wreaths at the statue of Kosmas Barbatsis. Speech by Ms. Eugenia Frangia 19.30 Traditional and Byzantine Music in the pebble mosaic courtyard of Bouboulina’s Museum.
FRIDAY 12th SEPTEMBER 2008 20.00 a) Musical event, Saxophones – the Prefecture of Piraeus b) Greek and Latin dances by the dance troupe of Spetses. Tutor and organizer, Ms Mary Stasinopoulou. 21.00 Concert with Yiannis Kotsiras and Eleni Tsaligopoulou. Organized by the Prefecture of Piraeus, with the support of the Municipality of Spetses.
SATURDAY 13th SEPTEMBER 19.00 Welcoming of the dignitaries at the Town Hall followed by a reception in the courtyard. 20.15 Traditional dances by a) Cretan Brotherhood of Piraeus, “Omonia”, b) the dance troupe of the Municipality of Spetses, accompanied by live music. Tutor and organizer Ms. Barbara Bratopoulou. Traditional costumes provided by the Women’s Association of Spetses. 21.30 Speech by the Mayor of Spetses Mr. Evangelos Kontaxakis. RE ENACTMENT OF THE HISTORIC NAVAL BATTLE OF SPETSES. Commentary written by Mr. Pavlos Paraskevaides and narrated by Mr. Vasileos Bakiras. Fireworks display by the Nanos Team. Sound and Lighting by Mr. Georgios Megalios.
SUNDAY 14th SEPTEMBER 2008 07.00 Celebratory cannon fire 10.00 Departure of the dignitaries from Possidonio Square 10.30 Blessing at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas followed by the laying of wreaths. Speech by Mr. Athanasio Kottadakis, theologian and author. 12.00 Lowering of wreaths into the sea at Dapia All events take place at the Possidonio Square unless otherwise stated.
